Among the peoples of the High Andes there are ongoing familial conversations with the Apus, or Sacred Mountains, about climate change in the region. In this participatory video from Chochas Grande (Mantaro Valley, Junin), we follow the local people on a ritual visit to their father the mountain deity Huaytapallana. Offerings are prepared with care and love to insure their acceptance, and there are signs of good luck along the journey. Such conversations based on respect are crucial to insure the flow of water that brings life to the fields and the communities around them. Produced by Conversations with the Earth and Insight Share in September 2009. In Spanish and Quechua with English subtitles. For more information, please visit:
