Shifty is a project to alter the time and space dimensions we typically see in video by rotating time and space by 90 degrees. What the heck?!?! Let me explain. This video shows a scene from this vid vimeo.com/3092911 (used with permission from Rob) where the vertical dimension is normal, the horizontal dimension is the flow of time, and each frame of video shows movement through the horizontal dimension. So in these vids, we see everything that happens all at once, but only in a small sliver of space.
Inspiration for this project comes from an old technique called slit-scan photography, and from a discussion on what it would be like for a 4 dimensional person to walk through our 3D universe.
The manipulations were done with Python, PIL, and ffmpeg.
