The vine maple was ablaze today on the Willamette National Forest. The old growth clearcut at the end of this video was cut in the late 1990s after the Newt Gingrich and his rebel republicans passes the infamous "Salvage Rider" that forced the Forest Service to cut this sale inside what was supposed to be a "protected" forest reserve. Hopefully, some new leadership will change forest policy for the better.
