This project is a continuation of my exploration of Concave Dynamics in C4D. The super short version of the tutorial is on BlackBoxTuts.com (for free, of course), Most tutorials on this curious topic about the C4D Dynamics Engine seem to use a chain as the concave objects. So, now that I did the chain, I decided to try some simple wire frame cubes inside of a wire frame sphere.
Again, on the surface, this may not look like much, but anyone who's played with the Dynamics Engine in Cinema 4D soon realizes that any object placed inside another object, and then has Dynamics Tags applied to it, will explode as soon as the Play button is pressed. This series of projects gets around that issue, and although I'm still just a newbie-hacker, I think the solution I found, after much frustration as well as trial-and-error, is a simple, repeatable method.
I then decided to play with Mass, Explosion, lighting, and Depth of Field to see what I could do with the scene. I don't know how much it adds to it, but then the point of this scene wasn't art; it was to learn how to use the Dynamics Tag with a concave objects. I'm all for someone helping to improve on this, and if someone's already done it in this exact way, then by all means, I'd be happy to give them credit. I watched Nick's version on GrayScale Gorilla and it just seemed a little too convoluted. Don't get me wrong; he's an inspiration to me, but on this one idea, I'm not sure he found the most elegant solution.
See you in 24.
