Since the beginning of mankind humans have lived in the shadow of their own mortality. But what if death were not a certainty? What if it were possible to extend the human lifespan to 150 years, 500 years, or a 1,000 years? What would that mean for the global economy and humanity at large... The Methuselah Generation takes a look at some of the most profound theories about the future of human longevity and explores the philosophical, moral, economic considerations of a society of vastly prolonged lifespans. This is a documentary that will follow select individuals at the forefront a movement that could change the course of science and humanity forever. We will follow biogerontologists and experimental scientists Dr. Aubrey de Grey, futurist and cryonics enthusiast Robin Hansen and lastly science fiction author, plasma physicist, and astrophysicist Dr. Gregory Benford and his research with extremely long-living fruit flies dubbed “The Methuselah flies.”
