It has been a long winter and February 12th 2011 was the first sign of better weather ahead. With the forecast showing 10mph Westerly wind and sunshine it was to be expected that more pilots would be out flying their RC Slopesoaring gliders than normal. Many were out for the first time following the winter building sessions.
It was great to have a real mix of models on show from modern F3b mouldies through foam and several scratch built wooden scale gliders.
Then just to make the day complete the weather conditions changed several times during the day. We had decent wind speed and strong lift early on then a period of real scratching as the wind stopped but with a few small thermals around the flying wa svery rewarding. The day ended with the lift again becoming stronger so everyone had a great day.
Hopefully this video captures some of the moment, although not all of the models.
