    I plan on it, dude!

  • hahaha...awesome beginning and awesome ending. this is off to a sick start. we know you're sharp cuz you corrected the incorrect domain name i sent you, and because you knew that the 7 was bogus because of rounding.

    100 digits / 30 days = about 3 digits a day.

3 numbers a day! although, i wouldnt necessarily do it like dat.

lemme know if you want some techniques or what-not. pumped for episode 2!

I'd love some techniques. I think I might try to learn it seven digits at a time, because I'm pretty good with phone numbers.

Any suggestions you have would be helpful. :-)

You totally need to set a goalproving goal for goalproving.com, and post your success (and a description of the site) on bringingbackrad.com to get more views. :-D

There are many ways to memorize π, including the use of piems, which are poems that represent π in a way such that the length of each word (in letters) represents a digit. Here is an example of a piem: How I need a drink, alcoholic in nature (or: of course), after the heavy lectures involving quantum mechanics. Notice how the first word has 3 letters, the second word has 1, the third has 4, the fourth has 1, the fifth has 5, and so on. The Cadaeic Cadenza contains the first 3834 digits of π in this manner. Piems are related to the entire field of humorous yet serious study that involves the use of mnemonic techniques to remember the digits of π, known as piphilology.

That's cool, but I think the words would confuse me and slow me down. I'm actually fairly good at memorizing numbers. :-)
  •
  • Pam - is it cool if I feature your pi goalproving project on goalproving.com, as I get ready to start growing the site?

    thanks, and lemme know!

Okay, so I got a job between starting the goal and now. I think too much time has passed (obviously) so it's time to push the reset button. I'll do another video this weekend.

Step 1 - goal and video create DONE!
Step 2 - shwo that I've actually got 20 digits memorized (to come this weekend)
    Step 3 - Show that I've done 40 digits
    Step 4 - Show that I've done 60
    Step 5 - Show that I've done 80
Step 6 - Show that I've done 100!!!!!! OMG GOAL
  • it'd could be fun/rad if you did the 100 one as lip-dubbing the song, just like i did. we can see how many people we can get to lip-dub 100 digits to the music. (but, honestly, who else on Vimeo, besides you and I, would be able to pull THAT off!?!?!)

    hint-hint, you little Vimwits!
  • Pam Newman 1 year ago
ok ok ok, I'll try lipdubbing it?

I'll see if that helps. :-)
  •
  • and p.s. any progress towards the goal?

i find it most efficient to break it into five or ten steps, and make one video for each step. (you've already accomplished a few steps by selecting the goal and filming and uploading the video).

you can post your steps as a reply to this comment if you want.

    maybe:

step 1: select goal = DONE
step 2: intro video and digits 1-7 = DONE
    step 3: digits 1-20
    step 4: 1-40
    step 5: 1-60
    step 6: 1-80
    step 7: 1-100 = GOAL!
