Never been NY but sure do want to visit it sometime soon looks great

  • Great intro! What a brilliant moment to capture. If I can offer one bit of advice, I would say take off the auto-exposure and set it your self; the exposures will be more consistent that way. But great compositions and use of depth of Field though.
  • Gabriele Vinci 1 year ago
Thanks Oliver: absolutely agree with you that exposure in some parts change dinamically ruining the scene. I really wanted to go to NY to take these shoots. It seemed to me that the place was waiting to be portraited. I liked a lot shooting those images. Everything was casual. My luck! :)

I must have been in NYC at that same time Gabrielle. Great impression of the peaceful park.
Why did you choose for a B&W style? I mis a bit the october colors.
Shooting in the city with a tripod was in some way a hell for me, on so many places I've been chased away by the police: they hate people with 5 legs (unless you pay).
    Love your shots and NYC!
  • Gabriele Vinci 1 year ago
Absolutely Pierre, in NY you have to steal most of the shoots. Police or private surveillants literally chase you if you got a tripod! About the b&w I was really tempted to leave colors but I had this Woody Allen's Manhattan black and white style to try. It sounds so outdated and nostalgic. Remeber what Woody Allen said: "New York is a black and white city".

I forgot about that 'Mr. Allen's film :)
I presume I'll have to go back there Gabrielle...

Hello. What kind of camera did you use. Editing system ?
    Congrats !
  • Gabriele Vinci 1 year ago
Thanks Luciano, a Canon (Vixia) HF100 + a cheap DOF adapter from Twoneils. It works great but everything is flipped so you'll see upside-down. I used Final Cut Pro basic features. I could use iMovie or any other cheap editor for this.

Nice!!! You know what a good prank would be??

If that Essex House Hotel one night two lamps were broken from the letters 'ES', so imagine how it would end up looking at night!!! :D

Your filming is so beautiful. I need to step it up! A little film I filmed in Ireland on youtube

    youtube.com/watch?v=bUkxR21OVx0&feature=channel_page

is nice but the piece I put on this site is like home movies.

It is generous of you to share how you did the film.
    Thank you again.
