Music is a mix of Roll Out by Ludacris and Bonde Do Role's Salto o Frango found on The Hood Internet: thehoodinternet.com/

The puppets are made of old clothes and embroidery floss. They have wire skeletons.

I have a really hard time not assigning personalities and feelings to inanimate objects. I don't know if anyone else does this too... anyway, the whole time I was making this I felt bad for the yellow dude because he looked so bored and I kept feeling like I ought to be giving him better dance moves so he would have more fun... except he's NOT A LIVING THING and I was the one who SEWED HIS FACE ON.

What is wrong with me?

Also: do you know how many spiders are in my backyard? A lot. That's how many.

good work! how long did it take to make?
  • duplo 2 years ago
not terribly long. i don't have much time these days so i never would have made it if it were too time consuming!
It took a long morning to sew all the puppets together and another long morning to take all the pictures. Editing it together took an additional couple of hours. Way less time then most of my projects have taken me!
  • cayoyin 2 years ago
It's because you are becoming more skilled. I remember my first video took me like 6 hours to edit...waaaay too long for what it was.

Sometimes, if I'm sitting in one chair too long, and there's another one that NOBODY is sitting in for like, the entire day, I'll move to give it some company.

That might just be OC or something...

Yeah! Really cool. That's a really good simple design for the puppets and they work so well. Did you design them yourself? They remind me a little bit of gingerbread men.

I too feel for inanimate objects - our dog recently ripped the head off his teddy, and I felt quite bad for the teddy (and the dog aswell, but the dog's not inanimate and of course the dog doesn't even know the teddy is anything but a lump of cloth!)

I was going to write that noise that people shout a lot on the dance floor, but I have no idea how to spell it.
  • islebehere plus 2 years ago
    Heeeyyyyy, hooooooo!
  • trp0 2 years ago
    heh.

I was thinking more along the lines of the noise that sounds like some sort of bird or monkey or birdmonkey, but that works too.

    So much fun.

Life is so much more interesting with a deep and somewhat conflicted inner monologue. Its really the genius of Larry David from Seinfeld and Curb.

Really enjoyed this. White's armfold and pose made me laugh out loud. Pretty good for a mornings shoot, that's a lot of work with 4 puppets.

PS: Some of my best friends are inanimate objects.

I didn't think this is as good as some of your other stuff.

I felt like I couldn't relate to the puppets. What's their motivation? Why are they dancing?

WOW!!! That is one the greatest things I've seen!!!... I LOVED that video so much..... execellent!!! The dancing was so cool...!!

P.S. I also asign assigning personalities to things... I mean everything... like lamps.. I used to do it so much more... it would drive me a bit mental... am I coming across mental?... I've stopped doing it so much now.. thankgod....

P.S.S..or P.P.S.. I loved that video so much I'm watching it again!

It's so cool to see your trademark work again. It definitely has your unmistakable touch. The camera moves that intro each new puppet man are sweet, good edit. I love the trip through the backyard/jungle.

Were the spiders in the back yard as big as that dammed leviathan that was in your room during bombs over Baghdad? That reaction still cracks me up!

Now that's some cool stop motion moves. You put my first attempt to shame.

The yellow guy was the best of 'em all.

And are you saying rocks don't have feelings? I get all protective when I see someone kicking one. Just because they can't kick back doesn't mean they don't feel the kick.

    Poor rocks.

She took an unkempt yard (no offense duplo's dad), some scrap wire/floss/fabric and turned it into a shining example of (wo)man's wonderful imagination. Perhaps do another version of it with music appropriate for the kiddies, and you've got yourself a public television hit. =) Well done!

i usually have to pair up socks by taking the most outgoing one and the most alienated one, to make sure that every sock has a chance to be heard in the world. or by my feet, i guess, or just so that the other, more charismatic socks aren't given preferential treatment.
