A sci-fi music video for the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, from their album 'Spaceship Zero'.

I directed, cut it, and did all the visual effects in After Effects. Made for a total budget of $1500, shot over a weekend on three Canon 7Ds. DP was Naim Sutherland, production design by Chris MacDonald, costumes by Chris and AJ Andrien, spaceship set made possible by Casey Snowdon. Starring Toren Atkinson and the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets (Jordan Pratt, Merrick Atkinson and Warren Banks).

I did the gags as practical effects whenever possible - taking a page from Stanley Kubrick for the guitar pick, and using greenscreen only sparingly. Used a 2-point star-filter for the anamorphic lens-flare look. Toren had to memorize the chorus backwards for the re-entry shot, so I could start in a CU and run backwards from him.

No astronauts were harmed in the making of this film.
