wonder what happened to the lil girl in the beginning too :D
Fishsticks: Not so much. But maybe Kanye does.
Congratilations, by the way...

No offense to you Hadaya.
he got inspired by Noe thats it....But I gotta agree the concept look the same.
Yea Kanye West needs some more HYPE.
#disappointed
But, as an homage, it kinda fails. It would be great if the rest of the video resembled the style of the film, with crane shots and cgi. Just seems so bland to me. Kanye standing on a cop car, Rihanna standing in front of a backlight.. that's it?
Plus the video looks like the exact part of "Enter the Void"
1.) Hip-hop is a remix inspired genre. Kanye is known for sampling other songs to create beats, so it isn't unnatural to sample other films for music videos. Ever heard of Tarantino? He does this stuff all the time, and we love it!
2.) You can't judge a music video by 'how complex the shots and lighting' are... some of the best music videos are the most simplistic.
3.) It's directed by Hype Williams... One of the most iconic music video directors ever. This is his style, the lighting, camera angles, etc. He became popular because of his unique approach to music videos, this is no different.
Your point 2 about the best music videos are the simplest and that you cant judge a music video on lighting/complexity of shots....well I agree with this 100% most videos that I like are very simple, but they are simple for a reason, they have this depth in its context that it does not need extra complex lighting/shots, simplicity works because the core amazing feature is its context, and this video has none of that, no context, its just basic, its simple but in the worse way simple can be, look at the Kanye West Flashing Lights video, the whole video only has three shots, how simple is that, but its context I think is amazing, it works extremely well with the song, but this video here just seems to be one big lazy creative idea.
Check out the Flashing Lights video on YouTube if you have not seen it, you'll see what I mean.
and your point 3. has no relevance as it really doesn't matter who directed the video, and i like some of the other Hype Williams videos I have seen, I just think that this is basic in a very bad way especially when you look at the artist Kanye and what he is doing for not only rap music but the entire music industry, innovation is the word that comes to mind and this video has none of that.
But just seeing some comments like "all they are doing standing in front of a light" or "the strobe is only for aesthetics" - thats all Hype Williams to begin with. Fast repetitive cuts, solid backdrops, strobe effects... I just found those as irrelevant arguments towards this video, as they appear is just about every one of his music videos.
But yes I agree, the simplicity of the shots in relation to the context of the song aren't that great and don't really hold any emotional connection. The song actually tells a story and they missed out on translating that, just a bunch of random shots. The greatest part of the video is the graphic sequence, which obviously is copied, so it loses it's originality.
Mainly just defending some specific comments, and that just because something is a rip-off, doesn't necessarily make it bad - there has to be other other factors (which you've pointed out).
nuff said.
No offense, but be original for the love of god.
I would assume Hadaya ripped the idea and copied directly since she is credited as the designer and editor; Hype and Kanye could have never known about the original Enter the Void titles until someone saw the comparison in titles online.
However, that is unlikely. She was more likely given the direction from Hype or Kanye to make the titles exactly the same as Enter the Void.
It's too bad it wasn't an original creative idea, because it fit the song and the beat so well and I love innovative effects used in music videos.
At least you watch good movies :)
Néanmoins, il faut rendre à César ce qui est à César.
