This is some of the high-speed footage I shot while reviewing the Casio EX-FH20 digital still camera. Most of the clips have been composited into the 720p distribution file (on Vimeo) so that they appear at their original size. Some have been enlarged, which reveals some artifacting.

Please watch the full review or go to videopia.org to read the review of the camera. In short, there isn't anything out there for $600 that will produce footage like this, but the camera is otherwise unremarkable.

Hehe, coffee creamer is my favorite home pyrotechnic - just make sure you do it outside, 'cause caramelized creamer makes a big mess.

Awesome man. Still love the videos. Don't visit the site that often, but still got you on watch!

  • Very helpful, awesome set of test footage. I had no idea that a consumer-level still camera could produce such a nice overcranked look.

I just wish we could get 210 fps, at least, in even SD NTSC sizes.

    What's the song?

The 210fps footage is better than half-SD and looks really good at SD resolutions. It even looks OK on the lightbulb stuff with 720 lines. The Sand Hill Cranes looked like crap at 720 lines, however (the complex vegetation in the background just stressed the MJPEG codec too much). So, as you can see, cool, but limited. It'll be fun to see what the kids with skateboards come up with in the next few weeks!

The song is a hacked together ACID song I redid yesterday afternoon.

Great Video. Camera is a bargin. I got mine for £182. ($299)
The HD video quality is better than most cams cheapish cams that come with HD video. but also has loads of great other features. I was tempted to spend like 2-3k on a DSRL, but to be honest, this is much better value for money. The quality of the pictures are not bad, I mean I've got much better cams as far as quality goes, but 40fps at 7mp, 5fps with flash on at 8mp. Just awesome. For the price of this cam, it's just a pure bargin, you can't go wrong. Really great for just messing about on. Everything is cool to watch when been filmed at high speed.

Still running $499 this side of the pond, which is still a tad expensive, in my opinion (unless you need an all-in-oner -which can be very very convenient and certainly cheaper than buying 2 separate cameras). I also saw Casio has point-n-shooters for $299 that'll also do the 1000fps thing. Pretty cool.
