This we believe; here at Tufts, the student body believes in many different things. Different creeds, different ideologies, different political views, different ways to enjoy themselves. We believe that it is this very diversity which makes living here at Tufts such an enjoyable experience. Our film tries to convey the mosaic of perspectives present on campus, and the way that they are embraced by the entire community. We hope to illustrate that no matter the differences between residents here, we are all Tufts University Jumbos, and the common bond of residential living ties us together in a way that forges a common identity even while fostering individuality.
Here at Tufts, it doesn’t matter who you are, because we can all think of ourselves as Jumbos. We eat at the same places, and face a common core set of challenges and goals. Even through such trivial pursuits as ping pong, sitting around watching “The Waterboy”, painting the cannon or sledding on pilfered trays, dorm life highlights our commonalities. At Tufts there are plenty of opportunities to do great things; dorm life gives us the opportunity to enjoy the small ones together as well.
Our very medium is a testament to Tuft’s encouraging environment. A University such as this does not hold itself to traditional boundaries and narrow views, but rather helps its students to express themselves, in all their diversity, through unique and creative channels. Whether through club participation, academic pursuits, or making a Reslife music video, Tufts promotes a positive environment for all interests. We believe that this spirit of tolerance, curiosity, and understanding is what it means to be a Jumbo, and that this common identity ties us all together.
