3D Stereoscopic off road driving experiment. Anaglyph
1 year ago
Time to get out the motion sickness pills! I've been playing with a new camera rig that allows me to get a couple of small cameras very close together (less than 3 inches). I decided to strap the rig to my Suzuki Jeep on a little off road trip. The results are interesting and the rig shows a lot of promise. My home brew camera mount allows you to adjust the convergence with a small thumbscrew. Unfortunately the thumb screw came loose and I ended up with a lot of toe-in, must fit a lock nut next time. Overall I am very pleased with the results, I just need to work out the limitations of the rig. For example in the latter clip where it is mounted to the side of the car it is too close to the car and the 3D doesn't really work very well. I should have had the cameras much closer together for that particular shot. This is a work in progress and I'll post some more over the coming months. What I really want to do is to shoot all my storm and tornado chasing in 3D next year.
