This adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s one act comedy presents a puppet version of Nikolay Nikutin, a man terrorized and traumatized by an overbearing wife. His conference on the ills of tobacco smoking, which his wife has forced him to give, quickly degenerates into a monologue about the trials and tribulations of being Nikolay Nikutin. Throughout his discourse Nikolay lies and tells the truth, loves and hates, sings and dances and speaks against one of his few remaining pleasures: smoking tobacco.
