Daniel Hayek first tumbl'd a 16 second clip posted by NASA of a M 3.6 class flare eruption on the sun - I couldn't stop watching it over and over again, and decided to download the source file; which was fairly small, and stretch it to 720p, slow it down to around 1% in Motion using the optical-flow effect. I then brought the 27 minute long exported clip into FCP and cleaned up some of the artifacts created from the stretching via levels.
In the description of the original NASA video it reads that this solar flare lasted over 90 minutes. Beautiful.
