Short extract from Mark's fantastic set at Bang the Bore VII Oct 2010. It was my personal favourite set of the night, and it makes a fine start to Bang the Bore's documentation of its live shows. We'll be aiming to post videos of most of the shows we put on from here on in so please keep an eye on the bang the bore vimeo group.
Mark is one of the most distinctive noise musicians we know of. Initial work as Putrifier shared more of the generic trappings of noise, but increasingly as he's developed his own approach to electronics, he's ended up with something that, while still recognisably coming from a noise background, arguably has as much in common with Parmegiani as Prurient. Based in Bristol, Mark spent some time working with Bristol circuit bending and synth building hero Tom Bugs and now incorporates similarly idiosyncratic homebrewed electronics into his live set - which you can see him playing here.
For more info it's worth picking up a copy of the very fine first issue of As Loud as Possible which includes an extended interview wth mr Durgan: asloudaspossible.org
