The 3x - 10x feature on the T3i / 600D made me want to dust off my trusty ol' 100mm F/2.8L Macro IS again...
At 3x it's very usuable, going to 10x gets a bit soft. I would say up to 5x still stays pretty sharp.
Shakiness is from the Wind, not the camera. Realized it's pretty hard to pan in Macro mode..
