The moon shot on a Sony EX3 and a Nikon 400mm f2.8 using an adapter from Mike Tapa at MTF services.
The whole rig was anchored to a Miller DS20 tripod. As far as I can make out the shimmer is heat haze and other atmospheric distortions with maybe a touch of vibration.
