An Inconvenient Tax sheds light on one of America’s messiest problems — a fundamentally broken tax code that affects every part of people’s lives. With the U.S. Congress making over 16,000 changes to the tax code in the last two decades alone, many Americans want something better, but few know where to start. This feature-length documentary film reveals the many ways Congress uses the tax code to achieve political goals that have nothing to do with raising revenue. It also tackles the controversial issue of tax reform through a non-partisan presentation of U.S. tax history and current proposals to fix the code. In a time when America faces fiscal crisis, An Inconvenient Tax brings a crucial exploration of the tax code to the big screen.

Thanks! We think we have a piece that could really affect how people view taxes.

So is it interesting enough to make it on the HD channel or staff picks?

    Hopefully it will.

    we don't usually feature trailers.

Understandable. We would definitely appreciate it though. Nobody's really covered this issue before and definitely nobody's done it the way we are. We should have a full trailer featuring some of the more creative aspects out soon.

Intriguing start. I hope this film has an impact. Of course we want an improved tax system. My only caution is - I wonder if a film can really address the complexity of the issue. Talking heads are fine, but we are often left with a sense that there are a million divergent views and nothing will ever bring folks together.
I'm wondering if you worked in a section where some of the principles could discuss the matter rather than merely present their ideas unchallenged. Might be even more interesting to see some give and take.

We hope it has an impact too. We set out to look at the problems, understand how we got here and then look at what's needed in order for real reform to happen. We're not advocating any particular reform plan and it's more about educating people on the problems rather than just giving reform groups a soapbox to stand on.

Many people don't realize it, but we have a tax system that cannot continue the way it is right now without collapsing under its own weight. Regardless of people's opinions on what they feel is the "right" reform plan, we hope to at least be able to shed light on this fact.

Where can I see your film?
  • Life Is My Movie plus 2 years ago
We are actually now in the process of sending screeners out to distributors. Of course this last part of the process can be hard to gauge the timing of, but from a realistic standpoint we hope to be announcing release dates, and outlets by the end of summer. So it looks like it might be another month and half before it's available for viewing.
