The US tax code is the most ignoramus thing and a revolution is in order - this is a fantastic and well needed documentary. Great you got Chomsky on it. I saw the other trailers and they look great. Give me some notice when it releases.

All too true, and to have interviewed Chomsky: wow! I look forward to the full release.

Sad that he's the only interviewee that's on the left politically. There's a ton of interesting ideas and analysis on taxation on the left that isn't simple John Kerry-esque "taxes are good" dumbeating.
  • Yeah-- if this becomes a right-wing-only movie, you're going to alienate a lot of your audience. If you can get more left views....

  • Hmm, interesting comments considering that out of 25 interviewees, it's closer to about half which are on the political left. Yes, some of the more well known names are republican or libertarian, so it's understood where these comments come from, but this is a film about taxes not politics, and the reality is, fiscal conservatives are leading the push for tax reform. Not that we give them credit over anyone else, but they are the ones more willing to speak out.

When this film was in pre-production we contacted every major think tank, every senator on the finance committee, every congressman on the house ways and means committee, authors, editors, liberals, conservatives, republicans, democrats, tax experts from every organization, and even average citizens to get their take on taxes. We did not care about political stances. The interviewees we have in the film are the ones that cared enough about the issue to speak on it. We even contacted specific people/groups letting them know who we were interviewing and if they would like to offer their views or give a differing opinion.

We are not political filmmakers and this is not a political film. Heck even the filmmakers range from "liberals" to "conservatives" to "libertarians" to "social liberals and fiscal conservatives" to "middle of the road" to "no labels" to "I hate politics", and everything in between.

Regardless of ones political affiliation, this is an issue which affects us all.

We have tried to maintain an objective approach and hope people will look beyond politics and see the forrest through the trees. If we can't come to an understanding on taxes and develop a unified approach on the future of our tax system, then all of us republican, democrat, conservative, liberal, all of us will suffer the consequences.

All we can ask is that people watch the finished film before insinuating that it has any type of political sway, for we hope to surprise those who might have already formed an opinion about the film!!!
