Have always thought that the accelerometer of the iPhone would do my old ORTHO-TYPE project justice.... here's a video of the first steps towards porting it to the iPhone.

    How far can you turn the letters until you loose the recognizable shape of the letter? 90 Degrees?

    yup, 90 degrees is the maximum viewing angle (rotating on x and y axis) ... have a play with the original Processing demo here: ortho-type.it/beta033/index.html (click inside applet to get control of it).
