What do you get when you combine an artist, a chemist and a Brooklyn kitchen? Based on the success of Brooklyn Soda Works, the bubbly brainchild of lovebirds Caroline Mak (the artist) and Antonio Ramos (the chemist), it seems the answer is: fresh and fabulous artisanal soda, brimming with love and DIY deliciousness. Interviewer Dominique Mosbergen and I caught up with the couple in their Fort Greene apartment, where they told us about the humble beginnings of their artisanal soda company, showed us just how easy it is to make some of these delicious concoctions at home and confessed to us that they, despite their name, don’t actually like soda all that much.
This video is part of the Make It NYC project, an on-line interactive platform for New York’s artisanal food producers, DIY enthusiasts and independent artists. To find out more about Make It NYC, the brainchild of Dominique and myself, please go to: flavors.me/thebeardedalmond
