Longhorn was "hired" in the late summer of 1994 by Team One Advertising to be the subject of an ad shot by Peter Smiley and crew off (way off) the coast of Southwest Harbor, Maine.
There was little wind (so they called in a helicopter) and no waves (so they called in a 145 foot powerboat to spin doughnuts out front).
The ad was first aired on the superbowl and went on to win a clio.
The Lexus dealers I knew were perplexed- 56 seconds of a boat and 4 seconds of our cars???
Lexus smoked its competitors... and still does.
