The community of Uig on the Isle of Lewis, part of the Outer Hebrides off the north west coast of Scotland, has been chosen as the preferred area to establish a St. Kilda visitor centre. The site chosen in Uig is near the village of Mangersta (Mangurstadh) with it's dramatic cliffs and open views onto the Atlantic Ocean.
Uig is visually spectacular with superb scenery, varied wildlife and is a remote location. The next stage is for the community to secure funding to build the centre. This video forms part of the community proposal towards that aim for this exciting project for visitors to the Western Isles and those with an interest in the remote archipelago of St. Kilda.
