That summarizes the ART OF TITLE! Well done.
  • Spot of Bother LLC 11 months ago
Very nice. I think Panic Room should have been included, due to its innovative use of 3D text which FRINGE has copied ever since.
  • cowboygraphics 10 months ago
@spot of bother. Good point regarding Panic Room 3D text style.

Nice, it's funny that Enter the Void is at the end, since that looks like a collage of different title screens on it's own. Really good collection though, Fav'd

  • metroccolis 11 months ago
Finishing with Enter The Void is the best thing you could do. Great selection!

  • Keaton Tips 11 months ago
This is definitely a solid list. IT hit a lot of the titles I thought deserved to be in the IFC's list of 50 greatest.

Although, one title sequence that I think is phenomenal, which hasn't been mentioned on that list, in this video or on websites like watchthetitles.com is the titles for the original, animated "101 Dalmatians." That sequence I believe deserved to be near the top of many lists.
It is a spectacular piece of art work in and of itself.

No love for animated features I guess.
  • Ian Albinson plus 11 months ago
The love is there, it's been on our list for a long time and it is a wonderful sequence. Getting the video legitimately on the site would be the issue. Disney is very protective of its work.
  • Keaton Tips 11 months ago
This is music to my. . . eyes?

I completely understand about the legality of content usage. Disney IS very protective.

Thanks for setting me straight, Ian.
    I appreciate it.

We love it! great review and work, very interesting. There are really gorgeus examples as racing bull or six feet under

Very cool! My only addition would have been "Thank you for smoking" given the context. But you have other Jason Reitman ones there :) Again, very well done!
  •
  • Joe Jubinville plus 11 months ago
Great stuff. It's interesting that just a snippet of some of these evokes the whole title/movie... that's impact.

One of the most entertaining title sequences of all time:
It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

If anything, I could have easily enjoyed it at twice as long to give some of the animated sequences a bit more time...nicely done.

I really liked this but I think your choice of title is misleading. I'm guessing the clips are chronological but it's not a 'history' and its focused primarily on American feature films. I did enjoy it though! : )
  •
  • Ivan Vidovic 11 months ago
Awesome selection, but this music is way overused in the motion design industry.

Love the "Enter the Void" got to finish this off. As I was watching, I was wondering how you were going to close it out, and ETV's title sequence was so hardcore and epic that it totally deserved to get the last word here. Great piece!

    Great selection, nicely edited.
  •
  • Peter Merholz 11 months ago
Nice, I suppose, but ultimately myopic. Too many from after 1980, particularly pieces of crap like "SHERLOCK HOLMES." Not truly a history... more like an obvious collection of fanboy favorites.
  •
  • Chris Allen 11 months ago
Nice to see the evolution. some of the titles from the 60's area has such a well crafted feel!
