Description:
The idea behind this project was to put warning labels on the banknotes about the misuse of money, similar to health warnings found on cigarette packages. We all know the issues related to smoking and the warnings in the black frame. The content of the texts in the black frames is not relevant. The truth in these black frames is dead because it does not change anything. The same is true for the usage of money. Most of our problems are related to it and we still think that this can be solved just with money.
The stickers were written in Romanian and contained the following sentences:
Banii pot cauza deces moral! - Money can cause moral death!
and some of the other sayings:
Nu există bani în poezie și nici poezie în bani. - There is no money in poetry and no poetry in money.
Când banii vorbesc, adevărul tace. - When money speaks, the truth keeps silent.
Banii în lipsa inteligenței sunt periculoși. - Money is dangerous in the absence of intelligence.
Banii adesea costă prea mult. - Money often costs too much. / The cost of money is often too high.
Când este vorba de bani, toți au aceeași religie. - When it is a question of money, everybody is of the same religion.
Omul face banii, nu banii pe om. - Man makes money, but money does not make a man.
Dacă vrei să afli valoarea banilor, încearcă să te împrumuți. - If you want to know the power of money, try to borrow some.
Nu sunt pierduți banii care-ţi îmbogățesc mintea. - Money spent on knowledge is not money lost.
Niciodată să nu-ți cheltuiești banii înainte de a-i avea. - Never spend your money before you have it.
