( Short : 1..30 mins)
A humorous short about a man who just wants to be a horse. Most of us probably dream about being in the mountains, climbing like a god, but perhaps not all...A short piece of the absurd - don't blink!
"We went for humour over depth. The depth was accidental. We wanted to make an original, funny film about a guy who wants to be a horse, but is a cow. The cost was £30, including a second-hand suit for the only actor and the petrol to the location.
The one-day shoot was very smooth, with only the Cows providing the only real problem, ("primadonnas" confirms Stephen). The finished product was then crafted over three-months, with a lot of time given to the edit.
The French voice-over, the genius touch, came from a Gallic friend, who translated their script and recorded the narration. The result speaks for itself."
Strictly speaking, not a UWE film at all, as it was made by some second year students in their summer holidays for the Depict competition, part of the Bristol Brief Encounters film festival. They won the first prize of £3000. Then Steve and Alex found themselves being invited to the Colorado Film Festival, since then Cheval has toured round festivals all over the world.

Patrick Vandenberghe 1 year agoSpot-on duration of this short. I liked that reflective, noir-et-blanc, atmosphere supported by the satie-like music. -
