I want this as a screensaver on my wall! This is eye-poppingly, jaw-droppingly GLORIOUS projected onto a 13 foot screen. Bring on the 4K displays already!

Turned out perfect man! Loved shooting this, and also gained a greater appreciation for the Salton Sea in the process. Some parts of it aren't the best, but these Pelicans are SICK =]
• awesome - the shot at 01:39 was the most EPIC of all these EPIC shots. :D

Looks like WWII bombers in flight. At 59 seconds I thought there was something wrong with the footage then realized it was just the bird shaking itself. Beautiful images Tom.

Amazing!!!

I'm already testing @ 192 fps slow-down version...

Download full version of the clip from Vimeo

and then try out using VLC player with the speed playback adjustment slower @ 0.50x.

Also turn slowed down Wagner's music off if makes you dizzy...

Absolutely fantastic!!!

Wow Tom!!!

I obeyed you and watched full screen :-). Really incredible stuff man. My favorite Epic footage thus far.

What lens(es) were you using? Any filtration? Also what tripod head? Great job following them.
• Tom Lowe pro 11 months ago
This was 100% Duclos/Nikon 80-200mm PL-conversion lens. Bare.
• Shawn Nelson plus 11 months ago
Wow! Lens shade? And where were you in the 80-200 range? Or just all throughout it? That's a nice range to work in.

What tripod head?
• Shawn Nelson plus 11 months ago
Bump! :-)

Also it seems Duclos no longer does the 80-200. Now he's only posting about his 70-200, which will be a more expensive but different project

awesome music selection, made me laugh when the title popped up and music started because i had seen the screenshots on facebook haha. 96fps overcrank looks amazing. the very last shot looks like some very timelapseable cloud/light! good shit tom!
• Tom Lowe pro 11 months ago
yeah, timelapseable, except for the 10,000 birds that will fly through your shot. :)

detailatronic, left hand side of the shot at 116, bird hammers it into the drink slapping a fish up and out of the water... love it...

Very nice. Did you edit this on your new laptop, sandy bride/ nvidia setup and Premier?
Epic is not affordable, but I may have to buy some lottery tickets just to have a chance. Sad part is, even if the money were available, couldn't get one for a long long time. I'm so impressed with footage coming off the Epic, I think they have another winner. Here's hoping they run problem free. Again, very impressed.

First time I've downloaded a clip before even watching it. But I have to comment now or I'll be on page 2 at this rate!

Okay, now after watching.. the footage quality is gorgeous, of course.. but what I really want to know is... how did you pan so smoothly without so much as a jitter?

There was one shot where you followed a bird back and forth, that was a bit unreal to watch.

Thanks for sharing this. The ending was a bit of a surprise!
