Internet history

This clip presents the historical development of the internet, starting in 1969 with the first attempt named “Arpanet”, followed by the TCP/IP protocol and finally the World Wide Web. Furthermore, we are presented with the Internet Pioneers, Dr. Vannevar Bush and Sir Tim Berners Lee.
Vannevar Bush is considered to be the Godfather of our ‘wired’ era. Reference is often made to his essay, "As We May Think" (1945). In his article, Bush describes a theoretical machine, the "memex," which was used to enhance human memory by allowing the user to store and retrieve documents linked by associations. Sir Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee, is a British engineer, a computer scientist and a MIT professor, credited with the invention of the World Wide Web, first introduced/presented in March 1989. On 25th December 1990, at CERN Institute, he achieved the first successful communication between an HTTP client and a server via the Internet. Dr. Berners-Lee is the director of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which oversees the Web's continuous development.
