Hair motion test with Japanese Anime-like rendering in Blender
1 year ago
An experimental movie clip of hair motion with Japanse Anime-like NPR rendering. The tuft of hair was modeled as a simple mesh, whose motion was defined by mesh deform and soft body modifiers. The drawing was done by the Freestyle renderer, while the toon shading was made by a ColorRamp in material nodes. [Edited] Added new cuts at the end.

The bench mark pieces that you've posted here are exceptionally good, I like the simple colours of cel animation but the plausibility of 3d modelling. I hope that you go far with this work. I'd like to see some more!
I have two questions regarding "anime-like" rendering in Blender:
First of all, when I rendered my 3D model with a basic toon shading (no nodes) and Edges, the Edge settings made the wireframe visible through my model, and no matter how smooth I tried to make the model, the wireframe still showed through. Do you know how this can be fixed?
Also, is Freestyle available for the Mac version of Blender, and if so where can I find it?
Thank you for your time, keep up the good work ^_^
