This was my first test shoot with Super 8 after a hiatus of 25 years. My return had me needing a camera capable of properly exposing Kodak's Ektachrome 64T, since the beloved Kodachrome 40 was no longer being made.
Filmed in the Winter of 2006 with a Yashica Electro 800. This camera is shoots in 12, 18, 24, This was my first test shoot with Super 8 after a hiatus of 25 years.
It was made from 1970-1974. The body is made of a sturdy metal, has a nice ergonomic-type feel to the grip, but only weighs about 3.5 lbs.
My first impressions of the images were not great. I loved the colors but hated the grain...kinda still do. I've changed to different cameras and different stocks of film, but this one holds a special place as the return to something familiar for me.
Since then I've never used this camera again, but may just try it again...for the nostalgia.
Filmed in NYC, Time Square, Westchester, and the marina right behind the Merrill Lynch Towers by Ground Zero.
