The nucleus accumbens is a collection of neurons located in the limbic system of the brain.This nucleus is thought to play an important role in reward, laughter, pleasure, addiction and fear.
A recent study found that it is involved in the regulation of emotions induced by music.
Virtually all drugs of abuse act on the nucleus accumbens to reinforce drug taking.
