BRC Presents: 'They Say She's Different: A Betty Davis Retrospective' at the The Schomburg Center For Research in Black Culture

One of the most elusive figures in the culture of outspoken, dynamic, powerful, almost-mythical soul-sisters of the 70s, Betty Davis feels like the one that got away. Thirty years after her self-imposed withdrawal from the industry, the Black Rock Coalition Orchestra, under the musical direction of the inimitable Tamar-kali, explores Davis’ brief career and lasting legacy with a performance that highlights her musical and personal influence on some of today’s most jaw-dropping, show-stopping artists.

Performers include: N'dambi, Joi, Alkebulan X, Kimberly Nichole, Nucomme, Kat Dyson, Jerome Jordan, Co-MD Victor Axelrod (Antibalas, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings), Miles Arntzen (Antibalas), Jonathan Maron (maxwell, groove collective)
