Polynesian Chopper
This is a helicopter tour I took over Moorea, French Polynesia. I was shooting footage for a hotel chain. I finally got around to editing the rest of the footage into a short video.
Shooting from a helicopter is tough! There is constant shaking and its very hard to hold the camera still. Thus...the only solution is to use alot of the Smoothcam function in FCP.
The song is "Hearts on Fire" by Cut Copy.
Shot on a Sony V1U.

Complimenti.
indeed, too bad its interlaced but the scenary is overwelming enough not to notice that.
I also fixed the contrast...it was too heavy before!

Man that was an epic trip!
Check it out now!
Helicopters are rad!

I notice that your video is interlaced, you can de-interlace the video very easely with the plugin provide in FCP.
Anyway this video is very nice and shooting from an helicopter must be an intense experience.
Thank you for sharing this video
although FCP does a decent job on smoothing out a shaky footage, try using AE motion stabilization for even better results (though you'll have to spend more time and do some manual stuff as well).
keep up the good work, man :)
thanks!
Did you consider using a steadicam?
Too bad you see the reflections and scratches on the glass of the helicopter sometimes... Didn't you shoot from the open window?
Where can we see the ad you shot the stuff for?
Maybe I'll be able to shoot out of a small airplane flying above our city (Delft, historical city) with a Z1U.. :)
Well the window was only open on the left side and it was very small.
