Legend has this to be the meeting place of Pwyll, prince of Dyfed and Arawn, King of Annwn, the Underworld.
Annwn, unlike the Classical or Christian Underworld or hell, is not considered to be a place of punishment or eternal lamentation; it is rather a place of ancestral power which mortals may visit, and from where the Wild Hunt rides out.
