I spent a week capturing one of the biggest aurora borealis shows in recent years.
Shot in and around Kirkenes and Pas National Park bordering Russia, at 70 degree north and 30 degrees east. Temperatures around -25 Celsius. Good fun.
Available in Digital Cinema 4k.

Congratulations my friend. You totally nailed it.
I am speechless.
I've always been a big fan of TL, but this is on a whole nother level. Gosh I could watch this for hours. No, wait, I could watch this for an eternity..
love and aloha, Kalani-
You have been a major inspiration to me over the years, your work is the very best.
Tom, you have some new competition. ;)
What camera and lenses did you use?
Canon 24mm/1.4
Canon 16-35mm/2.8
Sigma 12-24mm
IMHO the gladiator soundtrack is a bit cheesy...sorry !
ROAD TO PERDITION 2ND
AWSOME VIDEO
great stuff
i import my raw sequences in after effects. so i can use adobe camera raw for the cc process and have a secondary touchup in after effects. all raw and 16 bit. after that i render these sequences to uncompressed yuv 10bit 4:2:2 for edit. my first compression is on my final export.
does ti have any relationship to Little Bramper

Many thanks!
Most of the days I started shooting before sunset, and did not finish until after sunrise. I do not mind -25C, but I mind the wind. A lot of hot coffees, and constantly moving around help keep the warmth.
That is actually reflection from snow mobiles. :-)
Any idea what the glow is ~1:36-39 above the moon on the tree branch?
Also glad to see that my workflow is similar to yours, at least now I know I'm on the right track!
How can you have your camera in that temperature?
My 7D can be outside in -5 in 45 minutes, and then my CF card will make an error.
By the way, AMAZING footage. My pictures of the Aurora didn't turn out nearly as good. :|
wow!
thanks for sharing.
as you do these Motion at?
very god¡¡¡
I would like know what type of dolly you used in your timelapses.
Thanks from Spain

GREAT!!
I've just started out some small attempts at time-lapse. What shutter-speed and time-between-shots did you use to capture the aurora borealis? (I'll guess 1-4 second shutter and roughly the same between shots?)
Great work.
