On the 11th of March 2011, the world's media reported a massive earthquake off the East coast of Japan. What has gone almost unreported, at least in the West, is the series of magnitude 4, 5 and 6 earth quakes that have followed. Almost 700 between the original magnitude 9 quake, and today.
This visualisation by Paul Nicholls illustrates the aftershocks following the original earth quake which are still hampering relief efforts. See japanquakemap.com for an interactive version.
