Ub 005 Suggestion/mousing confusion
1 year ago
Preliminary Recommendations
1. Make Ub background white, decrease opacity
2. Contemplate persistence
3. Add more intelligence to command suggestions, dictionary, thesaurus, fallback on google "I'm feeling lucky"
4. Add scrolling
This tester exhibited the problems with:
* Hotkey Confusion #395 00:55
* Mental model of persistence 07:00
* Mouse selection of suggestions Trac #396
* Issues with the landing page Trac #395
* Blocking information in his view 08:40, specifically the help information 09:00.
* User does not recognize lack of Verb command, or underlying syntax. 09:15
* Auto suggest command based on context, not just user type? Is this modal? Is it habituatable? 09:20
* Picks up on Auto complete (consciously) 10:00
* Confuses for a full email client instead of a command line, application launcher... Modality... hmmm, think about this.15:20
* Confused about email this, without reading it.
* Doesn't get the cartoon 16:30
* Define does not bring up preview 16:40
* Preview is modal, lacking insert map link, print, send, back, and navigation controls. We could include dummy png overlays loaded real controls upon mouse movement
* Looked to Wikipedia for help 18:25
User really wants to treat Ub like another application, where they can make and retrieve information. He really wants persistence, being able to use the GUI to move data in and out.
Understands Ub window as a prompt, cannot scroll or interact with page while Ub is being used. Make more transparent...?
