On October 16, 2008, Lynn Johnston, President of CSTD, presented the President's Award to Jean Vanier for his outstanding contribution to life in Canada and beyond. The founder of L'Arche Foundation, a collection of communities where people with developmental difficulties share their lives with assistants, Jean Vanier has been called "a Canadian who inspires the World" by Maclean's. Jean Vanier was in Calcutta so he sent this video in acceptance. In addition, Gordon Henry and Nathan Ball, the Executive Director of L'Arche Canada, were present to accept on his behalf.
