omg if i could push the love button more than once i would !! AWESOME STUFF HERE ;-)
and you seem to handle the D90 pretty well, what about the "stair steps" removal ?
  • Patrick Wright 1 year ago
Thanks! Here's the stair-step removal thread for reference: dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?s=9c776178d1c2f76cd473713a117f2010&t=149663

It's not absolutely necessary to do this, but it makes a noticeable difference in scenes with curved lines (the record player scene, for example).

    this is really gorgeous.
whats the font you use at the start and end?
cant believe how "filmic" it looks. d90 is impressive.

wowsers. the d90 might have some limitations, but if you work within them, you sure can produce some lovely organic vision. as a canon shooter i'm a little jealous of what the nikon can achieve for such (comparatively) little dollars.

were you conscious of not making any jarring movements to minimize the jello effect? and did you use some sort of weighted steady rig or just bare hands to move around?
  • Patrick Wright 1 year ago
yep, you have to slow down your pans to work within the d90's limitations. during handheld shots all i did was put the strap around my neck and extended the camera forward. plus for all of the outside shots i used a vibration reduction lens.

Looking very good :) Much more like some of the Canon 5D footage that's been doing the rounds recently. Very interesting.

can you go over some of your lighting?
  • Patrick Wright 1 year ago
Easy - all natural lighting except for the bathroom lights.

I *heart* Seattle! Great video. I really liked the "look" of it. Did you use any of the MB presets or tweak your own?
  • Patrick Wright 1 year ago
I used one of the Warm presets but toned it down slightly because I didn't want the color to be too intense.

hey man that was a really amazing little vid you put together there. fantastic look and feel you have achieved. i have not been able to get anywhere close to that with my D90. not to mention its a great little story too and thats what counts.
  • Patrick Wright 6 months ago
thanks, nick. the d90 takes some practice, and obviously the best way to learn its quirks is to shoot as much as possible. looking forward to when you post something shot with the d90.
