1. Dark N1te! (my new custom build video editing box)
Ok so here's my first video on vimeo, first time with the HG10, first time making a video with vegas pro 8, first time using this computer I just built with 64 bit Vista... So needless to say this is an awesome day for me!!! One of the biggest influences for this whole amazing ordeal is PIXEL VIKING. Seeing what he's been able to do with his HG10 as inspired me to purchase one and start this journey.

Please comment with suggestions or ideas. Bare with me as I’ve never used any video editing software other than movie maker. Also never used any type of camcorder other than the video function from the small point and shoots.

I rendered the video using one of the templates in the program. WMV 9 file type with 8Mbps HD 1080p-30p video. Seems to be okay. I wasn’t sure if doing it in 1080p would pass the 500MB vimeo limit but seems like it was only 120MBs for a 2min vid. I will probably get vimeo plus as I start making better vids to get the better resolution. I also wasn’t sure what they meant with vimeo plus gives you better res vids. Please let me know what’s worth it and what’s not with vimeo and also the settings on Vegas or the Cam. Please…

THANK YOU FOR VIEWING MY FIRST VIDEO!!!

(I know this is not some top end uber box... but at least it's fast enough to handle rendering more than twice as fast as my other box would've. I just got CS4 also so trying to see what would be better for me Premier or Vegas. Just upgraded ram to 8GBs!!!)

A 'PIXEL VIKING' tag... cool. :D

    Cracy looking PC indeed.

Vimeo doesn't support 1080p - videos are shown as 720p even if you upload as 1080p.

You might want to have a look at Eugenia's rendering settings for Sony Vegas Pro 8 here:
    vimeo.com/forums/topic:3671

You could use the H.264 codec for better compression/quality.

Looking forward to more videos from you :)

Thanks for the comment, good stuff to know about vimeo only doing 720p. That'll save some time rendering then. I'll def start reading more on Eugenia's crash course. So i'm guessing with the H.264 I should aslo just stick with 720p for vimeo stuff? I think i'll just stick to that res also for DVDs as I will need to start shooting family events and hand out DVDs. I wonder if vegas will help me do that as well. So much to do in so little time...

Yes, no matter what codec you use, Vimeo will only do 720p.

Sony sells some software called DVD architect studio that will help you create DVDs. I haven't used it, though.

that's great, but in the end is all about "final frame".
you need lots lots of drives, at least 4 x 1.5 TB Barracuda Seaget (they go for $129 right now)
