Karen Armstrong's wish: The Charter for Compassion I wish that you would help with the creation, launch and propagation of a Charter for Compassion, crafted by a group of leading inspirational thinkers from the three Abrahamic traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam and based on the fundamental principles of universal justice and respect.

    That's what I'm talkin' about...

    To quote G. Love,

"Give me some peace, love, happiness"

    Very moving.
If forgiveness and compassion were attributes that we as people shared on a global scale, this world would be in a much different place.

It's strange that if the people finally have the freedom and peace, they cannot handle it in many cases. They just don't want it anymore. They want some adventure.
Fighting and suffering FOR freedom and peace makes us feel alive.
    Strange isn't it? :)

Thank you for this! I needed to know that there are still compassionate and tolerant religious people out there. If we had more people like this, religion wouldn't have such a bad rep.

Accept the fact that you are not omniscient—that your mind is fallible—that an error made on your own is safer than ten truths accepted on faith/religion, because the first leaves you the means to correct it, but the second destroys your capacity to distinguish truth from error.

It has always seemed odd to me when lives move in some important way and those who move attribute it all to "God's Will or Grace or Love;" if no responsibility resides within, how does one learn from experience?

great message. values such as gratitude and compassion will indeed change the world. i believe it is much more empowering to search for our own truths which increase our consciousness rather than joining an organization led by those in power.

Thank you, Karen, for your initiative on this important movement toward more compassion.

How can those of us in the ministry of religion help you spead the word to our members and help them sign onto and live in a more compassionate life?

    Karen, my dear Karen…

The Charter of Compassion should begin with the Golden Rule but we must add to it – for it has evolved.

The Charter of Compassion should begin like this –

Do Unto Others As You Would Have Others Do Unto You – BECAUSE THEY ARE YOU.

    Because they are you.

    Because they are you.

One. One infinite loving source from which all manifestation is born.

Do Unto Others As You Would Have Others Do Unto You – BECAUSE THEY ARE YOU.

    Love,

    Michael

Beautifully said! It seems like such an easy concept to understand; "treat others as you would like to be treated". I just can't comprehend how people who claim to live a life of "faith" can be so filled with hate and non-acceptance!!! Thanks for sharing.
