My name is Evan Kleinman and I am a grandchild of Holocaust survivors. When I was thirteen years old, my grandparents, both the only surviving members of their families, were interviewed by the USC Shoah Foundation Institute. After hearing their stories for the first time, I just barely began to understand what they had endured.
I always felt a trip to Poland, the birthplace of my grandparents and home to my family for generations, might be the key to a better understanding. In this first-person documentary, my parents, sister and I make the journey together and walk the earth where our family was meant to be destroyed.
While confronting the horrors of our past, we ultimately discover the great miracle of our existence today and leave a marker behind that tells the world: WE ARE STILL HERE.
