Exciting Relays in the world Championships in Ski-Orienteering.
In the womens class Russia was in the lead from start to finish. Alena Trapeznikova won the first leg and her teammates Tatyana Kozlova didn´t let anyone up in front. Norway was 30 seconds behind on 2 place, with Barbro Kvåle, Stine Olsen Kirkevik and Marte Reenaas. The bronze medal was taken by Finland, Marjut Turunen, Liisa Anttila and Hannele Tonna.
In the mens class It was tighter were Staffan Tunis from Finland was sent out in a 40 seconds lead ahead of Sweden on the last leg. Norway and Russia changed 1 minute behind Finland. Sweden´s Peter Arnesson managed to catch Tunis after half the race but in the big hills at the end of the course, Tunis was the strongest and could secure the gold medal to his teammates Olli-Markus Taivainen and Matti Keskinaurkas. Sweden was second with Johan Granath, Erik Rost and Peter Arnesson.
There was a big battle for the bronze medal between Russia and Norway who was together at the end of the course, but to the last controls Andrei Lamov from Russia made a little mistake of some seconds which led to that Lars Moholt Norway could take the bronze with his teammates Eivind Tonna and Hans Jørgen Kvåle.
