In an afternoon ceremony in Raymond P. Shafer Auditorium on October 18, 2008, James H. Mullen Jr. was installed as the 21st president of Allegheny College.
Presiding over the inauguration, a celebration of community that took as its theme “We Are Allegheny,” Christine Scott Nelson, class of '73 and chair of the board of trustees, drew from the college's 193-year history to challenge and affirm its new leader.
