My showreel was completed at the end of 2008. I've recieved a lot of really nice feedback from people since posting this on Vimeo.
I was offered a job at Pixar at the end of last year and started in februrary, woohoo! :D
Music is by Penguin Cafe Orchestra and is called Perpetuum Mobile.
A really big thank you to everyone who has commented on my showreel or taken the time to view it, I really appreciate it. :D

I use 3 main software packages for making the work, XSI for Modelling, Photoshop for texturing and 3D studio Max for rendering. There's probably not enough space here for me to go into much detail sorry, but in terms of time, I would say it would condense down to about 6-9 months of work. I worked on these pieces on and off in my spare time over the past couple of years so it's hard to know exactly how long it took. Hope that gives you some insight. Thanks for your comment :)
keep up mister... you got it!!
To Xuslik and SondreLangprojekt, I'm not too sure what you're asking, but the scene was completely CG, I created all the textures in photoshop by hand (excluding the graifitti), modelled all the objects in XSI and rendered them in 3D Studio Max with Vray. :)
Thanks again
I've been absolutely obsessed with 3D now for over 12 years, starting back when I was 16 with free software that came with a computer magazine; it was called Visual Reality I think :) I've just gone on from there, and still love doing it.
Thanks again everyone :)
The music made it strong and really pulled me in
What is the name of the song?

Thank you for this wonderful piece and the education.
Thx, for that.
5*
Michael and Nathan, the music is called Perpetuum Mobile.
Carlos, the hardware used has been upgraded over the years. I started doing it on a 5 year old PC but recently upgraded to Quad Core and 64-bit Vista and 3D software to get it all finished this century! :D
Christian, I largely taught myself, started about 13 years ago but I did go to University and during that time learnt a lot from other students and from having a lot of time to spend doing 3D.
I'm surprised by the renewed interest, where did you guys see my work?
Sonnyme, glad to hear from someone living so close, thanks!
Thanks again everyone, really means a lot!
peace

I love "a friendly hello"
the robot's reaction to the lighthouse switching on made me smile!
I do have one question, how exactly did you go about making the fire, dirts, and explosion for the "Almost Home" clip (with the plane). Was it done in XSI?

Naren, good luck in your learning, XSI is a great package although I must confess I used 3DSMax for the smoke and flames.
Thanks everyone! :)
thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks! :)
You made the front page of digg.
I remember when I used to crash my schools computer lab when I'd setup a network render over the weekend: 30 Pentium 90's chugging through a 3 minute animation that overloaded the Hard Disks... things have come a long way... congrats on all the great work.
