Overview

Bosvigo Children's Centre was designed to provide a fast, sustainable building solution on a restricted site providing a Children's Centre and community facilities within a school campus.

The design provides approximately 100 sqm or floorspace including Creche, training area, kitchen, office and fully DDA compliant wc facilities. The building also contributes to landscape revisions providing a reception area for the main school entrance.

The building sits within a conservation area and as such, the 4KW photovoltaic array has been sited on an adjacent, existing building owing to overshadowing of protected trees to the south of building. The building boasts Breeam excellent rating and is two points short of carbon neutral. Space is heated with Air source heat pump with underfloor distribution. The building is naturally ventilated.

The building is finished with natural slate pitched roof, green flat roof sections and is clad with local western red cedar and lime render. The building eventually cost just under £160,000 not including fees and additional external works/landscaping to the schools entrance.
