The world premiere of Outside the Wire: The Forgotten Children of Afghanistan took place this week at the Cleveland International Film Festival – and was met with great enthusiasm by festivalgoers. Outside the Wire is a documentary by journalist and filmmaker Anthony Hornus, who was embedded with members of the 838th MP Unit from Youngstown, Ohio, as they traveled to remote villages across Afghanistan on peacekeeping and humanitarian missions. Hornus was there as they built schools, provided aid for teachers and doctors, assisted women’s organizations, and handed out toys at orphanages. The film, which features beautiful photography and emotional interviews, sheds light on the children of Afghanistan, who have been largely ignored in media coverage of the War on Terror.
