What we can do if the screen in videoconference rooms can turn into an interactive display? With Kinect camera and sound calibration system, we can easily access the spatially calibrated depth and audio information.

We introduced four features, which are "Talking to Focus", "Freezing Former Frames", "Privacy Zone" and "Spacial Augmenting Reality".

Microsoft Research (have seen and played with it myself) have a project whereby it takes in audio streams that are then placed virtually / spatially in set positions. That is, if you were to close your eyes you would swear PersonA is at 35degrees and PersonB is 49degrees.

Now combine the Kinect with this concept (aka your idea) and this could definitely do some interesting things for live meetings on the interwebs :)

We implemented 4 features in the video. It would be very helpful for further development if people could rank their favorite ones.

    This is amazing. Well done!

    In terms of favorite features:
    - Freeze Frame could be used *right now* and is very easy to understand (and worked pretty well)

    - I found Talk to focus distracting, as the person never really seemed to come in focus, I also kind of want to be able to see how other people on screen are reacting to what Person A is saying. All that said, it's still a very cool idea.

    - Privacy Zone strikes me as cool in an open office space to hide the background, it's kind of like what apple did with photobooth backgrounds. But i see little applicable use for this in the real world.

    - Spacial Augmenting could be a cool way to present digital models in a way that made them feel like a real "built" miniature.
